Kate Mavor CBE, Master of St Cross College, will be joining the Board of Visitors of the Ashmolean Museum from Hilary Term. The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford’s museum of art and archaeology and is one of the world’s oldest and most renowned. Established in 1683, the museum features an extensive range of exhibits, including art, archaeology, and antiquities, making it a significant cultural and educational institution.
The Board of Visitors oversees the strategic planning and operation of the museum. Kate was previously CEO of English Heritage which has 35 accredited museums in its portfolio.
St Cross has a long history of connections with the Ashmolean Museum and presently has a number of fellows working both at and with the museum. These include Dr Shailendra Bhandare, Dr Mallica Kumbera Landrus, Dr Eleanor Standley, Dr Luke Treadwell, An Van Camp, and many more.
