Lunches
College Lunches represent excellent value for money, offering a three-course meal at a heavily subsidised price for St Cross students.
Lunches have to be booked in advance. There are two sittings:12:00 and 13:00. Bookings for lunch will close once they are full, or at 14:00 the day before lunch (14:00 Sunday for lunch on a Monday).
If you are no longer able to attend lunch, please cancel your place by 14:00 the day before your booked lunch. If you fail to do so, you will still be charged.
Lunches will not be available during the summer break. Last lunch will be served on Fri 2 August, and kitchen will open again for service on Mon 2 September 2024.
Alumni Lunches
If you are passing through Oxford and would like to visit College, we would love to welcome you back. Please email the Development Team, who can arrange fob access, a tour, or perhaps lunch or dinner, depending on the nature of your visit.
Alumni are entitled to take lunch in College twice per term at the rate of £13.90 per head. Please contact the Development Team with at least a day's notice if you would like to come in to lunch. Payment can be made online.
Should you wish to come into College for lunch more frequently, you might consider Membership of Common Room, which entitles you to lunch five times a week.
Hall
Hall, in College on Tuesday nights throughout each term, is a formal, served, three-course meal for which College members are encouraged to wear gowns.
Hall booking closes each Friday at 10:00. Members are permitted up to three guests for Hall nights. Members may only book two dinners of the same kind per term.
Please ensure any special dietary requirements or seating requests are indicated at the time of booking.
For details on the Hall dinners, please visit the events page. If you have any queries, please contact Justyna at events.assistant@stx.ox.ac.uk.
Special Dinners and Feasts
The College hosts regular formal dinners for its members, as well as three feasts per year.
The College hosts Hall nights every Tuesday evening during term. They are open to all College members and their guests.
Booking is essential for all these events. As they are popular, they quickly get booked up once open. Please indicate any dietary or seating preferences at time of booking.
Please visit the events page for details about formal dinners and feasts.
Café
Open Monday – Friday, from 08:30 to 14:30, the Café serves fresh coffee, hot breakfast (full English), pastries, snacks, plus hot lunch selections, such as paninis, sandwiches, salad bowls and soup.
Our new pizza menu is now available Weds-Fri, 11.30-1.30pm when the kitchen is open.
Choose from classic margarita, tasty pepporoni or mouth-watering vegetable, all 10" and £5 or less.
The Bar
The Bar is an informal space for members to enjoy an evening drink. In the day, the Bar space doubles up as the College Café.
Located in the basement of the College's Main Site, the bar has a range of inexpensive drinks, and is run by students but frequented by the entire college body.
The bar has ample seating as well as a foosball table, pool table, dart board, board games, piano and guitar, and a TV and large screen projector. The bar is usually open before special dinners and for particular events.
The bar is open on Fridays throughout term, from 20:00 until 23:00 (with last orders at 22:30).
