Profile

David Scrymgeour is an entrepreneur, organisational advisor, and educator with extensive experience across business, higher education, and the not-for-profit sector. He is Executive in Residence at the Saïd Business School and a Business Fellow at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford. At the University of Toronto, he is Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management and Executive-in-Residence at the Rotman School of Management. A graduate of the University of Toronto, David began his career with General Motors and IBM before pursuing international consulting and entrepreneurial work. He has founded and led a number of organisations, including businesses in information management and skills training, and has served as an advisor and board member to a range of community organisations. He has also supported students and entrepreneurs through his mentoring and executive-in-residence roles.

David is a valued friend and generous supporter of St Cross College. Through Career Essentials Inc. and his personal philanthropy, he has established the St Cross Community Bursaries, which recognise students’ achievements, leadership, and entrepreneurial spirit beyond academic study. He has also supported the College’s 60th Anniversary Campaign through a wonderful matching gift pledge, which followed a previous successful matching campaign, helping to encourage wider giving for the benefit of St Cross students and the College community. David was named a Domus Fellow in 2025 in recognition of his generous philanthropy and his continuing friendship with St Cross, reflecting the College’s deep appreciation for his sustained commitment to its students, values, and future.
