Prof Sir Andrew Pollard receiving his Honorary Fellowship Award
St Cross College is delighted to congratulate Fellow Professor Sir Andrew Pollard on receiving an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).
The award was presented during the RCPCH Annual Conference, held in Birmingham on 12 May 2026. Each year, the College awards Honorary Fellowships to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to child health and paediatrics.
Sir Andrew is Director of the Oxford Vaccine Group in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Oxford and a consultant paediatrician at Oxford Children’s Hospital. A founding member of the Royal College 30 years ago, he has had a distinguished career in paediatric infectious disease research and immunisation. In 2022, he also received the College’s highest honour, the James Spence Medal, recognising outstanding contributions to the advancement or clarification of paediatric knowledge.
Reflecting on the award, Sir Andrew said:
I was really delighted to receive this honour from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, as a proud founding member of the College 30 years ago. But I am under no illusion that my apparent contribution is actually personal, but rather it is built on the commitment and hard work of thousands of researchers and students around the world who have worked tirelessly to improve the health of our children through immunisation.
The 2026 conference celebrated achievements across child health, research and advocacy, with this year’s College Medal also awarded to author Julia Donaldson OBE in recognition of her contribution to children’s wellbeing through literature.
St Cross warmly congratulates Sir Andrew on this well-deserved recognition of his longstanding contribution to child health research and immunisation.
