This academic year, St Cross College turns 60 years old! While that makes us young by Oxford standards, all St Crossers can testify to how eventful and impactful those years have been – whether we look at the College, the University, the city, or beyond, at ‘the four corners of the world’.
We are grateful to all of our alumni, supporters, Fellows, friends, and members of staff for bringing what once was a vision to life. With your help, we hope to achieve even more.
The 60th anniversary year is a time for celebration; it is also a time to plan for our future. We want to offer more to St Cross students and academics – more funding, improved facilities, and greater opportunities. We want to offer more Scholarships, to build interdisciplinary connections through the Crosslinks programme, and to invest in our Buildings and the College Environment.
Philanthropy will make all that possible – and we invite you to make history with us.
From now and until 30th September 2026, the College has been presented with another wonderful opportunity: gifts will be matched, thanks to a generous pledge by Career Essentials Inc. and David Scrymgeour, friend of St Cross.
We are profoundly grateful to Career Essentials and to David personally for supporting the Anniversary campaign in this way. All single donations will be matched pound for pound, making your support go even further. For new regular (monthly, quarterly, or annual) gifts, the full value of the first year of the donation will be tripled. For example, if you donate £100, the College will receive £200 in total. If you donate £100 per year, the College will receive £300.
A maximum of £125,000 has generously been made available in match funds. Gifts will be matched up to a value of £15,000.
While you can give to any cause at St Cross, the match funds will go towards the St Cross Community Bursaries, a pioneering award programme established by David and Career Essentials. The Bursary recognises students’ demonstrated achievements and commitment to supporting their own personal development, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial spirit. Twenty-three St Crossers have received the award already, and we look forward to announcing future beneficiaries.
Your support this year will be enormously appreciated – and worth twice (or thrice) as much. Thank you.
