The Duncan Lowne Fund

The Duncan Lowne Fund is available to students studying graduate courses in the departments of Engineering Science and Materials for the support of research and academic-related travel.

Duncan Lowne (DPhil in Engineering Science, 2005) was a St Cross student who sadly passed away during the second year of his doctorate as a result of a brain tumour. The Fund was established in his memory by his parents, Alan and Carol Lowne.

Awards are made in conjunction with the Travel and Research Fund and students should apply following the standard Travel and Research Fund application process. The Duncan Lowne Fund will normally cover half the cost of grants made from the Travel and Research Fund and students will be informed when awards are made.
