This Visiting Fellowship is designed either:
(a) to fund academic visits to the University of Oxford by leading Australian thinkers and scholars of any discipline with capacity to communicate and teach, and interested in pursuing enquiry into human consciousness and spirituality;
or
(b) to subsidise leading scholars from the University of Oxford visiting Australia to speak at a conference and/or advance research relating to human consciousness and spirituality.
There will be a preference to support applicants under (a).
The main intention of the Visiting Fellowship is to advance research and thought in Australia on a multi-disciplinary and inclusive frontier that is open to the contribution of reflective, theological enquiry and to communicate such learning quickly in places of education and the wider community. Applicants should be currently pursuing scholarly research at postdoctorate level.
Under option (a) the Visiting Fellowship Fund will subsidise the costs of self-catering accommodation at St Cross College, subsistence, travelling and overheads for Visiting Fellows so nominated by the Crawford Miller Board of Management. College Membership and exchange with leading scholars at Oxford will be arranged for the Visiting Fellow, as well as access to library facilities, IT facilities, other technological requirements and attendance at lectures, seminars and forums. Scholars may be invited to give a seminar presentation or participate in interdisciplinary exchange with respect to their particular research interests.
Visiting Fellowships are normally for a period of up to 8 weeks.
