Msc Education (Comparative and International Education) (2025)
My academic interests lie in Comparative and International Education, with a particular focus on education policy, inequality, and the role of education in social and economic development. Coming from Burkina Faso, I am especially interested in how education systems in low and middle-income countries can be strengthened to improve access, quality, and equity, particularly for disadvantaged communities and girls. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme has allowed me to engage critically with global education debates while grounding my learning in diverse international contexts.
I have found the MSc in Comparative and International Education both intellectually demanding and deeply rewarding. The course has strengthened my analytical and research skills and encouraged me to think critically about educational systems and policies across different regions. My research has progressed well, and I am currently developing my dissertation, which focuses on key education challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa. The guidance and support from faculty have been invaluable in helping me refine my research questions and methodology.
The St Cross-Mastercard Foundation (AfOx) Scholarship scholarship means a great deal to me. It has significantly reduced the financial pressures associated with studying at Oxford, allowing me to focus fully on my academic work. Beyond the financial support, receiving this scholarship has been a strong vote of confidence in my abilities and has motivated me to pursue my academic and professional goals with greater determination.
I have found the St Cross College community to be welcoming, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating. The diversity of the College has enriched my experience and provided a strong sense of belonging through academic and social activities.
Outside my studies, I enjoy cooking, which allows me to relax and share my culture with others, as well as travelling, which deepens my appreciation of different cultures and perspectives. I also play the guitar, an activity that helps me unwind and maintain a healthy balance between academic work and personal wellbeing.
