Mrs. R. V. Ramya Bharati is a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 2008 batch, currently serving as Deputy Director General at the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. In this national role, she oversees all aspects of civil aviation security across India, ensuring compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards through regular audits, inspections, and oversight. She plays a key role in policy formulation, international coordination with agencies such as the TSA and DfT, and represents India at global aviation security forums. She also leads BCAS's training division, spearheading capacity building for aviation stakeholders. With over 17 years of field experience in active policing, Mrs.Bharati has served in critical leadership roles including Superintendent of Police in Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tiruvannamalai; Joint Commissioner of Police in Chennai; and Deputy Commissioner in Kolkata. She has addressed complex challenges such as counterinsurgency, coastal security, drug trafficking, and Islamic fundamentalism, and is recognized for her pioneering work in community policing, notably the Achchamillai initiative in Chennai. She holds a BA in Sociology and an MSc in Cyber Forensics.
