Dr Dhanushi Hettiarachchi

Dr Dhanushi Hettiarachchi is a medical doctor, medtech entrepreneur, and innovator working at the intersection of clinical medicine, technology, and health systems transformation. Her work advances preventive healthcare through accessible, technology-driven solutions that address persistent gaps in early diagnosis, patient access, and healthcare delivery across South and Southeast Asia. She holds an MBBS from the University of Peradeniya, an MBA from the University of Colombo, and specialised training in medical software and artificial intelligence from Yale University. This multidisciplinary background enables her to bridge medicine with data science and innovation strategy, supporting the development of solutions suited to both advanced and resource-limited healthcare settings. With experience spanning clinical practice, community health initiatives, and health technology development, she leads the design of scalable, device-agnostic AI screening approaches deployable through hospitals, optician networks, and community outreach programmes. Her work has supported mass eye-screening initiatives across multiple regions in Sri Lanka, enabling earlier referrals and improving access to preventive care. Beyond her entrepreneurial work, she contributes to Sri Lanka’s innovation ecosystem as a mentor, judge, and speaker in national startup and technology programmes, while advocating for women’s participation in STEM and the responsible use of emerging technologies.
