Phaik Yeong Cheah is a Professor of Global Health at the University of Oxford and Head of Bioethics & Engagement at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Bangkok, Thailand, part of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Medicine. She leads an international team across the UK, Thailand and Cambodia working on the ethics of conducting health research in low-resource settings, data ethics, and antimicrobial resistance, alongside community and public engagement programmes across Southeast Asia.

Phaik Yeong trained as a pharmacist and completed her PhD at Universiti Sains Malaysia before going on to earn an Erasmus Mundus Masters in Bioethics. She currently sits on World Health Organization committees on the “Ethics guidelines of Platform Studies” and “Ethics Guidelines of Human Challenge Studies”.
