Alex has lived in Hong Kong, Canada, UK and Singapore. He originally started out as a banker before doing an early career switch to tech where he became deeply passionate about Trust and Safety. This field is about how we protect users of technology platforms from real world harm and empower people to trust the platform they use or engage with. Alex took up Trust and Safety roles at eBay (e-commerce), Facebook / Meta (social media), Stripe (fintech) and Google Play (app development) - leading teams from all over the world and shaping risk management solutions. This includes stints where Alex led operations strategy for some of the most complex markets like Greater China and Vietnam - with great business potential but also some risks. Alex manages a global team of over 20 that engages with developer communities, regulators and internal business teams to understand how to improve the broader app publishing experience on Google Play. In his spare time, Alex loves to compete in online Magic: The Gathering tournaments and play table tennis. He currently lives in Singapore with his wife and two children. 

Advice to St Cross students: Spend your time at college to form a world view of how things work, your motivation and what is a meaningful life. As you step into the real world to start a career, these deep thoughts will help guide you in difficult decisions and tough times.
