St Cross Photography Competition 2026 Winners Announced

St Cross College is delighted to announce the winners of the St Cross Photography Competition 2026, marking a special 60th Anniversary edition of this much-loved annual event.

In this milestone year, members of our College community were invited to capture images that reflect the spirit, people and places that have shaped St Cross over the past six decades. The response was exceptional, with submissions demonstrating impressive creativity, originality and technical skill across a wide range of interpretations.

Following thoughtful deliberation, the judges selected three outstanding photographs that beautifully capture both the individuality of their subjects and the distinctive character of St Cross. We are pleased to share this year’s top three winning images below and to celebrate the talent within our community.

The winners are as follows:

Chosen to win first place was "The Hunters" by Ella Barrett (MSc, Archaeology)

Taken at the Golden Eagle Festival in the western Mongolian province of Bayan-Ölgii, this photograph captures a parade of hunters arriving at the festival. The event brings together Kazakh eagle hunters each year to take part in a series of competitions while celebrating the long-standing tradition of eagle hunting. It was a privilege to witness and capture this moment.

In second place was "Cheers to Stillness" by Yi Tang (DPhil, Computer Science)
