Unilever Scholarship in Chemistry

Joining us from:  Lithuania

DPhil in Sustainable Polymer Chemistry (2022)

Mantas began his DPhil in Sustainable Polymer Chemistry in 2022, following the completion of his undergraduate studies at the University of Warwick.

His research is dedicated to the development of degradable plastics for water-based liquid formulations. Initially, these materials will be utilised in home care cleaning products, and in the future, they may be applied to more advanced systems, such as drug delivery. Utilising ring-opening copolymerisation and advanced catalysis, he aims to advance the synthesis of high-performance polyesters. Mantas has also acquired substantial industry experience during his placement at TE Connectivity Energy business unit, where he worked as a materials engineer.

In his free time, he participates in various sports and actively engages with student organisations. He has held the position of Men's Captain at the Wolfson College Boat Club, followed by Welfare and Inclusivity Representative, and served as the Sports and Societies Representative at St Cross College.

Mantas is very grateful for the Unilever Scholarship, which supports his research endeavours and prepares him for a career at the forefront of chemical innovation.
