Factors like continuing globalisation, the development of technologies such as generative AI, quantum information science, augmented/virtual/mixed reality, robotics, blockchain, data science, the space economy and cryptoassets as well as the emerging gig economy and contingent worker paradigm, are all intersecting to disrupt traditional business models. The good news is that there are tremendously exciting opportunities for those prepared to take advantage of these changes.

Part one: How to Succeed at Jobs that Don't Exist Yet

The workshop will begin with a 40-minute context-setting lecture by Christopher Bishop describing the historical connections between technology and business models, as well as a perspective on where careers are heading in the coming decades. The session will also include an introduction to his Future Career Toolkit.

Part two: Secrets for Creating an Award-Winning Deep Tech Start-Up

Dr Zhanet Zaharieva will then describe how her passion for science led her to earn a DPhil and then start a bleeding-edge tech company. In addition, she will describe how working with an incubator that supports young tech entrepreneurs in Oxford was crucial to her company's successful launch.
