Dr Phil Taylor leads the graduate student experience at the College, with strategic and operational responsibility for academic administration, on-course student support and wellbeing services. As Head of the Academic Office he is supported by the Student Support Co-ordinator, Admissions & Academic Assistant and the Academic Office Secretary.

Maya Blackwell

Student Support Co-ordinator

Maya is the first point of contact for any welfare or academic related queries. She is responsible for providing initial advice and guidance to students on matters relating to academic administration, wellbeing and welfare. She is contactable via email and is happy to meet with students on teams or in person.

Eamonn Deeley

Admissions and Academic Assistant

Eamonn coordinates the graduate admissions and registration process, liaising with applicants, students and relevant university services. He also provides administrative support for a range of academic-related matters during students’ time at St Cross.

Sasha Travers
Academic Office Secretary

Sasha provides support for a range of administration activity across the student lifecycle, and acts as a point of contact for students and other callers to the Academic Office. She also oversees the arrangements and administration of Degree Days in College.

About Us

The Academic Office oversees the student lifecycle from admission through to graduation and provides students with academic and welfare support during their studies at St Cross.  We work with your department’s academic office and a range of central university services to support you through your studies.  This includes all administrative provision relating to your student record and degree programme requiring College input or approval:

  • Examination and assessment procedures for taught graduate students

  • Graduate progression (GSO) forms for DPhil milestones (Transfer and Confirmation of status) 

  • Changes of circumstance (extensions of time and suspensions)

  • Co-ordination of disability support and implementation of Student Support Plans, working with the University Disability Advisory Service   

  • Reasonable adjustments and alternative exam arrangements 

  • Enrolment certificates, status letters and on-course transcripts, lost, damaged or stolen University Cards

  • Residency requirements & fieldwork

  • Support for College Advisors and Advisees
