H.A. Plumer Scholarship in the Humanities

St Cross College is very pleased to offer the H.A. Plumer Scholarship in Humanities, in partnership with the Clarendon Scholarship funding scheme, to research students ordinarily resident overseas who will begin studying for a DPhil course in any subject within the Humanities Division at the University of Oxford in October 2025.

The Scholarship covers the annual cost of the course fee and the standard UKRI stipend for annual living costs for the three years of full fee liability, together with provision of a stipend of £10,000 in the fourth year to contribute towards termly continuation fees and living costs.

The College is very grateful to Plumer Management Ltd for establishing this scholarship in memory of H.A. Plumer. H.A. Plumer was the co-founder of the Swan School of English in Oxford and a renowned expert in the field of English language learning, having created the University of Oxford's English language exams and authored numerous textbooks.

Application Criteria:

To be considered for this Scholarship, applicants must have applied to study for a DPhil in any subject within the Humanities Division by the relevant 2024-2025 admissions deadline. No separate application is required and all eligible offer-holders will be considered for this award.
