Dancers from the Dans-es ballet company, led by St Cross Member of Common Room, Dr Roya Ghafele, will perform a one-hour programme of ballet pieces from The Nutcracker, La Bayadère and Don Quixote as well as the beautiful solo dance, The Dying Swan to showcase the world of classical dance. Neo-classical ballet to music from George Gershwin and Frederic Chopin will also be presented. The ballet performance will demonstrate how dance can fuel scholarship and creativity for ballerinas who are also academics.
Dans-es is a new ballet company, which has performed in the BoZAr, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, at the Austrian Embassy in London, at various charities and for the birthday of the Duke of Kent as well as at a variety of conferences. Dans-es is associated with the Ballet Association of the Volksopera House Vienna and the Dans-es ballerinas are all professionally trained with several also completing their doctoral studies.
