Renowned glass harp virtuoso Brien Engel will discuss how the glass harp works and play music from well-known movies on the unusual glass harp instrument which is sometimes also known as "musical glasses" and has been played for over two hundred and fifty years. Brien has been playing the glass harp for nearly 30 years and his current instrument, which features 50 glasses each chosen for musical pitch, is one of the largest in the world. Whether played with simple melodies or complex and ethereal harmonies, glass harp music has an unmistakable sound. Brien has played across the US and his extensive repertoire on the glass harp includes popular songs, jazz standards and classical music as well as his own original pieces. The event will be livestreamed from Brien's US studio.
