Introduction to Academic Literacy Skills

This introduction to academic literacy skills will cover two key areas to support your successful study at Oxford:
- Successful time management and self-organisation skills;
- Approaches to learning and teaching: understanding your tutor’s expectations.
In the first area, we will consider how to prioritise and plan, and also crucially how to apply a process to starting work on an essay effectively and efficiently. We will undertake a practical task on these processes to ensure you get the most benefit from the session.
In the second area, we will consider both stated evaluation criteria and unstated assumptions and expectations, and how to approach accessing and interpreting these.
