Virtual Gospel Concert by Resounding Harmonies

Michelle Parris, Kathy McLeish and Sophie Harriot stood together

As the nights draw in amidst the pandemic's continuing shadow, the College was delighted to bring some soul to a Friday evening by welcoming acclaimed gospel trio Resounding Harmonies on Friday 15 October for its first ever virtual gospel concert, organised by Dr Jo Ashbourn, Senior Tutor (Academic Affairs & Programmes). The event was livestreamed from a studio in Hackney with an online audience of over 80 to hear the trio perform some of the gospel greats.

From `Amazing Grace' through to `We Shall Overcome' and then on to the finale with `When Jesus Say Yes', Resounding Harmonies treated the audience to a programme spanning gospel songs from the earliest well-known classics through songs embodied in the Civil Rights Era right up to the present day with contemporary gospel.

The full programme is below:

Amazing Grace
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Down by the Riverside
Give Me That Old Time Religion
When the Saints Go Marching In
O Happy Day
We Shall Overcome
Peace in the Valley
I Saw the Light
I'll Fly Away

Resounding Harmonies comprises Michelle Parris, Kathy McLeish and Sophie Harriot, who between them have over 30 years' experience of singing as solo artists and in gospel choirs. They have also made a series of recordings for various albums and provided support vocals for well-known artists such as Mica Paris and Rebecca Ferguson.
