Following the popularity of last year's termly quizzes, which ended in an overall draw in Trinity Term 2021, this term's Students versus Fellows General Knowledge Quiz took place on Friday 3 December for the first time in person with the two teams pitting their wits in the Hall to win this year's trophy for the competition.
Across several different subject rounds, the two teams of four members answered some challenging questions, once again ably researched and formulated by Lesley Sanderson, the former Master's PA, who is still devising fiendish quiz questions during her retirement.
The two teams kept pace neck to neck for the first few rounds but as the match drew closer to its conclusion, the Fellows pulled ahead in the final two rounds to win by 35 points to 28 1/2 points for the students. A brand new silver trophy obtained by the SRC for the contest will be engraved to record this term's winning team.
The Quiz Master on this occasion was the Master, Carole Souter, who expertly conducted the proceedings. The teams were led by Anne-Sophie Guernon (students) and Dr Jo Ashbourn (Fellows) in an evening full of collegiality, culminating in a very exciting final round - the next match is on for Hilary Term 2022!
