St Cross is proud to congratulate alumna, Bunmi Agusto (2022, Master of Fine Art) on her Frieze London debut this year. Bunmi’s artwork will appear in a specially curated section that examines the artistic and cultural entanglements between Brazil and Africa.

Frieze London is one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs. Organised by the globally renowned Frieze Organization, the fair brings together top international galleries, artists, and collectors, creating a dynamic platform for contemporary art and discourse. This year, visitors can see the latest artworks and projects in London’s Regent’s Park.

Bunmi, who currently works as a visual artist and writer, will be making a double debut. Her art will be part of a collection curated by Dr Jareh Das, with Agusto’s work representing her family archive and upbringing in Lagos, Nigeria. For her solo presentation, In Focus: Tales by Moonlight, with Tiwani Contemporary, she will showcase new work both at Frieze and at the gallery’s Cork Street space.

It has been a landmark year for Bunmi, as she served as a consultant for the first-ever episode of Doctor Who set in Nigeria and for the Nigerian Pavilion at the London Design Biennale. She also led a major billboard campaign with the Royal Academy of Arts and Camden Arts Centre, along with a celebration of the Brazilian Modernism exhibition at the Royal Academy

Bunmi completed her Bachelor's in Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London, Master of Arts from SOAS University of London and Master of Fine Art from the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford, as a St Cross student.
