St Cross warmly congratulates alumnus Professor Kevin W. H. Tai (2018, MSc in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition) on being named among the World’s Top 2% Most-Cited Scientists in the field of Languages and Linguistics, according to the Stanford University List of the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2025.
Currently Assistant Professor of Language and Literacy Education at The University of Hong Kong and an Honorary Research Fellow at UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, Professor Tai has the distinction of being the youngest scholar to achieve this ranking in Linguistics in both 2024 and 2025.
His research focuses on language education policy, multilingualism, translanguaging, and classroom discourse, and his work has been widely published in leading international journals. Professor Tai also serves on the editorial boards of major linguistics journals, including the International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism and The Language Learning Journal.
In addition to his professional achievements, Professor Tai contributes to the College community as a Career Mentor, offering guidance and support to current St Cross students.
