New Year Honours List includes St Cross CR Member

The New Year Honours List 2024 has been released, recognizing exceptional individuals across the UK, including those from the University of Oxford.  
 
One of the esteemed names on the list is Professor Matthew Snape, MBBS FRCPCH MD, a St Cross College Common Room member, who has been appointed an MBE for significant contributions to Public Health during COVID-19 at the Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG). Formerly a Professor at OVG, he joined Moderna in August 2022, focusing on vaccines for various diseases. 

Prof Snape is Moderna's Vice President for Clinical Development, Paediatric and Maternal Vaccines. Formerly, he was a Consultant in General Paediatrics and Vaccinology at the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Council and the Children’s Hospital Oxford. His extensive research covers vaccines for meningococcal, pneumococcal, and influenza, along with maternal immunization. Notably, in 2014/2015, he led a ground breaking 'first in human' phase 1 study for an Ebola vaccine, contributing pivotal data for subsequent research in West Africa. 

A highly accomplished professional, he graduated from the University of Melbourne, completed paediatric training, and has over 70 publications in immunization. Actively engaged with the Meningitis Research Foundation, he serves as an Academic Training Programme Director at Oxford University, specializing in paediatrics.
