St Cross Alumna, Marina Perez de Arcos (DPhil International Relations, 2012) received the 2023 Elizabeth Greenhalgh Memorial Award for Outstanding Female Scholar from the International Society of First World War Studies. This prestigious recognition comes from the world's largest organization dedicated to bringing together researchers focused on the First World War. Her remarkable career and dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices in the field are celebrated by the International Society of First World War Studies. 

The honour is awarded in recognition of Elizabeth Greenhalgh's remarkable research on Franco-British relations and the French Army. She delved into archives in multiple languages to uncover forgotten stories of French wartime battles. 

Dr. Marina Pérez de Arcos,  currently holding the position of Research Associate at Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations, serves as the Head of History and Politics for the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE)'s affiliated centres in continental Europe (Lisbon, Paris, and Berlin). She is also one of the co-founders of the Global Thinkers Project at Oxford, a dedicated initiative aimed at amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals in the field of International relations. Dr. Perez de Arcos has achieved recognition for her research, which has been featured in esteemed academic journals. Moreover, she is frequently sought after as an expert commentator on European politics. She earned her doctoral degree in International relations from DPIR and actively participates in charitable initiatives as a trustee of the British Spanish Society. Her professional journey has encompassed fellowships and policy experience in France, Britain, and Spain.
