Gary Wong Chi-him (2012, MSt Diplomatic Studies) was recently awarded the HK Medal of Honour. The Medal of Honour (MH) is an award in Hong Kong that recognizes community service and distinguished civil service, given by the Hong Kong SAR Government.
The HKSAR Honours and Awards System recognises exceptional contributions, with distinctions like the Medal of Honour, awarded for long-term community service in a district or specific field, or for non-directorate civil servants serving with distinction. Gary attended a ceremony where he received the Medal from Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Government Mr John Lee at Government House.
Currently serving as Chief Hong Kong and Macao Liaison Expert of Qianhai Authority of Shenzhen Municipality, Gary has had a distinguished career across the public and private sectors. He previously held senior roles in public affairs and marketing, including at Gaw Capital and GLG (Gerson Lehrman Group).
He was appointed Justice of the Peace (JP) in 2022 and maintains a commitment to philanthropy. Gary is Founder of InspiringHK Sports Foundation, promoting equal opportunities and social inclusion through sports for underprivileged youth.
Academically, he is pursuing a doctoral degree in Sociology at Tsinghua University, with prior studies at the University of Hong Kong, the University of London, and of course at St Cross as a British Chevening Scholar.
