Milan has developed the growth of the synthetic biology and biotechnology societies at Oxford, in particular mentoring the student team competing in iGEM (an international synthetic biology competition). He is expanding his involvement in bioentrepreneurship by participating in the flagship hackathon, OxBioHack and aims to establish an open biohacker space. He co-founded a university spin-off and became the CEO of a protein-engineering company with eight employees, which he led through the pandemic. Through this Milan also worked on a project to clean contaminated water in developing countries.
