MPhil Programme in Sociology and Demography (2020)

I got my bachelor’s degree in public affairs management at the Renmin University of China, where I was trained in demography, sociology and methodology. I studied at the University of Edinburgh as a visiting student during my junior year and worked (and am still working) as a part-time research assistant for projects that investigate sociological or demographic questions. I am interested in the intersection of sociological and demographic topics, especially concerning family and fertility. Recently I developed an interest in sociogenomics and digital demography.

The MPhil programme in Sociology and Demography at the University of Oxford is a great fit for my research interests. The University is famous for its remarkable academic achievement and wonderful faculty members, while the St Cross community is intellectually vibrant and truly international. I believe this is a great place for me to meet fabulous people and make academic progress. The scholarship not only recognises my past achievements but also encourages me to work harder and can be used to fund my research. I sincerely appreciate it.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, dancing, and doing sports. I love travelling around during holidays and always seek opportunities to do volunteer work or research.
