Liyan is currently an Alternative Investment Manager in HSBC Insurance and is based in Hong Kong. Liyan started her career as a real estate investment analyst in one of the largest insurers in Singapore. The investment experiences open up the world of Alternative Investments to her, which led her to pursue and eventually earning the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Charter.

In 2017, Liyan went on to pursue her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. After earning her MBA, Liyan returned to Singapore and joined one of Asia’s largest real estate investment management company to deepen her knowledge in real estate investment, asset management and portfolio management. Liyan’s desire to gain experience working in global organisations and an international environment, as well as increase exposure to other asset class in the alternative investment space, motivated her to take up her current role and also relocating from Singapore to Hong Kong.

Advice to St Cross Students: Keep an open mind and be curious. Enjoy the conversations with people in Oxford, and treasure the time in Oxford.
