Professor Lesley Gray
Emeritus Professor in Atmospheric Physics
Emeritus Fellow
Lesley studied Geophysical Sciences at Southampton University and then continued her interests in fluid dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans by studying for a PhD in the Meteorology Department at Reading University. She worked in the Space Science Department at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory for many years before becoming a Professor first at Reading University and now at Oxford. She works within the National Centre for Atmospheric Sciences which is a collaborative centre funded by the Natural Environment Research Council. Her prime research interests lie in the dynamical variability of the stratosphere and its influence on climate at the Earth's surface, for which she uses a variety of climate modelling and observational data analysis tools.
