Joining us from:  Brisbane, Australia

Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) (2023)

I am a graduate student from Australia studying a Bachelor of Civil Law.  I am admitted as a solicitor in the Queensland Supreme Court and High Court of Australia and, prior to commencing my studies at Oxford, I practiced as a solicitor in the Disputes and Investigations practice at Allens in Brisbane, Australia.  Between 2019 and 2023, my practice involved various complex commercial disputes and related advisory work.  I graduated from Bond University with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (First Class Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom, majoring in Finance) in 2018.

Both through study and my time in practice, I have a deep interest in private law – which is an area of law that touches almost every facet of our daily lives and allows society to function (and flourish!).  On the BCL, I will be taking classes in Commercial Remedies, Principles of Civil Procedure, Conflict of Laws, and Transnational Commercial Law.  Having the opportunity to take the course is an incredible blessing, and the scholarship has been an immense help as my wife and I have uprooted our Australian lives to move across the world – something which has also been made easier by having such a supportive and welcoming College.  I’m excited for the future, but for now I am looking forward to being able to test ideas and arguments with fellow students and members of the Faculty for the next year!

When I’m not studying, I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, and nature photography (the latter not being my greatest talent, but evidence that I can persist in the face of limited success).  I maintain a fledgeling interest in theology, read for pleasure, and am an enthusiastic if not gifted social sportsman (tennis, netball, touch, volleyball, etc.).
