St Cross Law Faculty Scholarship

Joining us from: East Macedonia and Thrace, Greece

MJur (2020)

I grew up in Doxato, a small but historically important town in northern Greece, and I lived there until I started my undergraduate studies in Law at Democritus University of Thrace. Consequently, I worked as a trainee lawyer for 2 years, while at the same time I studied Law and Economics and Human Rights Law at postgraduate level. From my teenage years I was passionate about philosophy, physics and analytical thinking. In my studies, I focus in Legal Theory and Methodology in Constitutional Law, but I also retain a fierce interest for Theoretical Physics and Astronomy, while I enjoy reading Psychology and History.

Apart from these, I enjoy long walks and even longer discussions. Reading is also a hobby, particularly when it’s about literature. I am also fascinated by theatre, cinema and classical music. I used to be a member of a local chorus during my undergraduate years.

My future goal is to contribute through my work in the academia and in legal practice. St Cross scholarship made it possible for me to study at Oxford University and I do believe that such scholarships are the best example of an ideology of equal chances for everyone. This scholarship has provided me with the benefit of focusing on my studies, instead of worrying about the financial aspect of the program, and for this I am thankful.
