The 2026 Research Presentation Prize Competition is open this term to all current students. Shortlisted applicants will each present their academic research in a talk of no more than 5 minutes with up to a maximum of 3 PowerPoint slides in an event to be held in the St Cross Lecture Theatre at 5 pm on Wednesday 18 February. There will be four Busutill Research Prizes of £500 awarded, one to each winner for the best overall DPhil student presentation and research content in each Division (Social Sciences, Humanities, MPLS and Medical Sciences). There will also be a St Cross Prize of £500 to the winner of the best overall Master's student presentation. Master's students who have not yet started their dissertation research may present a previous project or research done prior to their Oxford course.
The presentations should be accessible to the layman and focus on the importance of the student's research in the overall field together with any results or outcomes obtained to date and their relevance. The presentations event will be open to all members of College and their guests, and the successful winners of the Prize Competition will be selected by a judging panel on the day.
Applicants should send a one-page description of their research and any related achievements to the Senior Tutor (Academic Affairs & Programmes) at joanna.ashbourn@stx.ox.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday 6 February 2026.
