Speaker: John Tranter, Bursar

Abstract: With a bit of history and a bit of technology, this is a light-hearted account of the early days of one of the most significant new industries of the last 30 years - mobile telephony. In the late 1980’s, I was fortunate enough to join a small company based over a pub and behind a curry house in Newbury, Berkshire which, a few years later, became Vodafone. I will bring a few old phones from my personal museum too!
