Students vs Fellow General Knowledge Quiz - November 2023

This term's Students versus Fellows General Knowledge Quiz took place on Monday 27th November once again in the inspiring book-lined Ursell Room in Pusey House with the two teams pitting their wits to win this year's competition trophy. The Fellows and Students teams were also joined on this occasion by an ad hoc Others Team featuring a mix of Pusey House members and team members' friends and relatives for welcome additional friendly competition.

The several different subject rounds had some taxing questions, as usual ably researched and formulated by quiz enthusiast Lesley Sanderson, the former Master's PA. Both Teams were stumped in particular by the two questions on the words in the acronyms WD-40 and VSOP!

The Fellows team gained a strong early lead, which they maintained until almost the end when the Quiz Master's special bonus points in the tie breaker round, which the Students Team won, meant they sailed ahead and pipped the Fellows Team to the post with 53 points to their 52 points.

Father Mark Stafford, President of Common Room, once again expertly acted as Quiz Master with the Student team led by Galen Brown and the Fellows team led by Dr Jo Ashbourn. It was a particularly fun evening with everyone looking forward to the challenge resuming next term!
