St Cross Students Win Sustainability Awards for Second Year Running

St Cross students have been recognised at the University's Sustainability Showcase for the second year running, receiving a Gold award for the 'Student Switch Off', matching their success from last year, and a new Silver award for Green Impact. Student Switch Off is an awareness-raising initiative encouraging student action on climate change, particularly focusing on University accommodation, whilst the Green Impact scheme aims at empowering people to make their workplaces more sustainable.

Held at Oxford University’s Museum of Natural History, the Showcase attracted around 200 people from across the University, with over 50 awards presented. Dr David Prout, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Resources, hosted the evening after a welcome from Paul Goffin, Director of Estates.

St Cross' efforts were led by former Environmental Representative Bronwen Hudson and current rep Ikuno Naka, who built on the progress made last year by continuing to encourage staff and students to engage with more sustainable and responsible ways of living and working. 

Congratulations to our students - and particularly to Bronwen for managing to achieve repeat success alongside finishing her MPhil - and laying substantial groundwork for the next Environmental Representative. Bronwen is now taking part in the University's micro-internship programme, for which she is drafting a sustainability policy for Kellogg College.
