Solhee Han - Horowitz Foundation Prize

Solhee Han, (DPhil Social Policy, 2023) has been awarded the prestigious Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy research grant in the field of social sciences for the 2023 award year. This recognition places Solhee among a distinguished group of 25 scholars who have been honoured for their exceptional contributions to addressing contemporary issues in the social sciences.

Her research project, titled 'Welfare State Financing and Redistribution and its Impacts on Public Attitudes,' explores the relationship between welfare state financing, redistribution through taxes and transfers, and public attitudes. It also investigates how individuals' net paying or benefiting position, alongside their income, influences attitudes towards the welfare state.

Established in 1997, the Horowitz Foundation is based in New Brunswick, NJ, USA, and only doctoral students whose dissertation proposals have been approved by their committees are eligible to apply for a research grant. 

Solhee's exceptional work in this area earned her the Joshua Feigenbaum Award in 'arts, popular culture, and mass communication' which is a special award that is additionally granted to the most outstanding project of each field.
