Honorary Fellow Professor Dame Hermione Lee wins Plutarch Award
Professor Dame Hermione Lee, St Cross Honorary Fellow and Alumna (MPhil English, 1968) and President of Wolfson College, has received the prestigious Plutarch Award for her biography of the British novelist and essayist Penelope Fitzgerald. Described by Biographers International Organization as "the genre's equivalent of an Oscar", The Plutarch Award is the world's only literary award given to biography by biographers.
Penelope Fitzgerald: A Life has garnered much acclaim since its publication in late 2014, including being chosen by the New York Times as one of its '10 Best Books of 2014'. Hermione Lee is a renowned biographer, writing widely on novelists, American literature, life-writing and modern fiction, and is the guest speaker at the College's 50th Anniversary Celebratory Dinner taking place on Saturday 3 October, during our Gaudy Weekend.
