Ho-Yin Mak is an Associate Professor in Management Science at Saïd Business School and a Fellow of St Cross College, Oxford. He grew up in Hong Kong and received undergraduate and postgraduate education in the US, obtaining his BSc at Northwestern University and MSc and PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. He specialises in the study of improving business operations using data and quantitative methods, and more specifically, the use of optimisation and operational research techniques. His recent research has been focusing on tackling various planning problems in the domains of supply chain management, sharing economy, energy, and health care. Prior to moving to Oxford, he had taught at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology for six years.
