Getting Started

Email and University Single Sign-on

The University's email service is called Oxford Nexus365 and you will be registered automatically for an account after you return your Card Form.

You need to activate your Oxford username before you can log-in to your email account and other services (Student Self Service, WebLearn etc). Your Oxford username is commonly referred to as your Single Sign-On username (SSO). You will receive your Single Sign-On account details once you have signed and returned the University Card Form, and in advance of the start of term. These details will be sent to the primary email address recorded in the University's system (usually taken from your application form).

You may find it helpful to refer to the information provided by the University's IT Services here

Your University email address is the only official electronic communications channel between your Department/College and yourself; messages will not be sent to alternative email addresses. Please ensure you regularly check your University email address to avoid missing essential communications for key activities, such as examinations.

Registration

An essential part of being a student of the University is the annual completion of registration. If you have not already done so, please read the University's guide to registration.

University Card

Your University Card provides you with access to facilities and services such as the libraries, computing services, college facilities, and depending on your department, physical access to buildings using the swipe card system. The card is also a form of identification so you should carry it with you when on College/University premises.
If you lose your card you must report its loss immediately to the College's Academic Office so that a replacement can be issued. Note that a replacement fee of £15.00 is charged for lost cards and must be paid before a replacement is issued to College.

Matriculation - Saturday 19 October

Matriculation marks your formal admission to the University's academic community and usually involves attendance at a Ceremony in Oxford.  Please check your College Offer Letter for guidance on whether or not you need to attend.

Orientation for International Students

The University's Student Information team have created a welcome guide for international students which you may find useful.

Medical Information

The College Doctors have prepared an info sheet for freshers, with instructions on how to register at Jericho Health Centre and what to do if you are feeling unwell, as well as an explanation of the NHS for international students who may be unfamiliar with healthcare provision in the UK.
