Student Ghazi Syed Wins IOM3 Literature Review Prize

DPhil Materials student Ghazi Syed has won the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) Literature Review Prize 2017.

The Review Prize aims to encourage definitive, critical reviews of the literature as an essential part of study for a higher degree in the materials field, and to subsequently make the best of these available to a wider readership. The prize is administered by the editorial board of Materials Science and Technology (MST). Students submit a written review for consideration for the prize in September - January, which is then peer reviewed. A selection of candidates is then invited to a Spring Masterclass where they give a presentation on their papers. The winner is then presented with a certificate and monetary prize.

Ghazi's review was entitled: "Materials Science and Engineering of Phase Change Random Access Memory", and the paper will be made available to access on Taylor and Francis online.

Ghazi is the second St Cross student to win this prize in as many years - DPhil student Ilija Rašović won the Literature Review Prize for 2016, and the IOM3 Lecture Prize of 2017.
