Francis works on the literature and culture of Anglo-Saxon England, and is University Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Old English at the English Faculty. He is especially interested in Beowulf and vernacular writing associated with King Alfred the Great. He is co-organiser of an international research network on English translations and adaptations of the Psalms from c.700-c.1700: Psalm Culture and the Politics of Translation.
