Torpids 2009 Place Secure For St Cross Rowers

Many congratulations to the Wolfson College Boat Club W3 rowing team, who on Sunday 22nd February successfully rowed on to secure a place in Torpids 2009!

This will be the first time in 11 years that WCBC has entered a W3 team in the Torpids and they put up a strong fight to secure their place. The countless hours spent training were put to good use and in a river of 25 teams, they managed a time of 4 minutes 13 seconds; placing them 8th in the overall finishing line. Congratulations in particular to St Cross members Laura Sauls and Michaela Zauner.

Congratulations also goes to M2 team, who finished first out of the men's rowing-on crews, crossing the line with an impressive time of 3 minutes 13 seconds. Well done in particular to St Crosser Tom Leveridge.

Torpids boat racing has a long tradition for the University of Oxford, originating from 1815. Held between the 25th and 28th of February, it will be the first annual ‘bump' race of the year, where the teams compete against each other to become ‘Head of the River'.

Be part of the excitement and go along and support our teams!
