St Cross College, Oxford

St Cross College is delighted to announce that the Alumnus of the Year Award for 2011 will be presented to Dr Ed Furgol.  

He studied at St Cross for a DPhil in Modern History from 1977, and is now based in Washington DC working for the Naval History and Heritage Command as a Curator at the National Museum of the United States Navy. He is the command's intern coordinator, and last year selected a St Cross alumna for the programme.

Dr Furgol was selected for this year's award due to his outstanding contributions to the St Cross American Friends Network, as well as his continued and enthusiastic approach to organising alumni events in and around Washington DC.

The St Cross College Alumnus of the Year award exists to celebrate those members who have contributed their time, skills and resources to the College. It is also in recognition of achievements of the highest level attained in pursuit of excellence in the professional world.
