Graduation is the formal end to your degree and in order to mark this important occasion, students are invited to attend a ceremony at either the Sheldonian Theatre or St Cross College.
The ceremony students choose to attend is at their discretion, whether it be at the Sheldonian or College. However, a booking must be made via the St Cross Academic Office.
Full details for either ceremony option are available via the links below.
Details to note:
You should wear sub fusc (including cap) and a graduate's gown for the first part of the ceremony and will need the appropriate (for your degree) gown and hood for the second part.
Degree Certificates are University documents but are not handed out at the Oxford Ceremony. They are issued to College and will be available on your day of graduation.
Candidates should be aware that it is a condition of graduation that all debts to the University and the College must be paid in full before they can graduate at a degree ceremony.
Graduands and guests attending the ceremony should be aware that graduation ceremonies are regarded as public events. Names and degrees of graduands and their Colleges are published in the graduation programme. Audio and visual images of the ceremony are publicly available via the sale of personalised videos of the ceremony.
Non-Withdrawal:
Once a candidate's name has been submitted, he or she may not withdraw from the ceremony without the Vice-Chancellor's express permission (to be granted only on good cause shown). If the candidate is eligible to be admitted to his/her degree(s), this will happen whether in person or in absence at the ceremony concerned
For any further information or to book in for a ceremony, please contact the Academic Office.
