Wine CellarIn Oxford, the Wine Cellar is an important part of the life of a College. At St Cross, the Cellar houses a wide variety of wines, including sparkling, sherry and port, and provides all of the wine for events in College, such as Hall and Feast. One of the main purposes of the Cellar is to provide Members with good quality wines at a reasonable price for college events. All alcohol for consumption in the Hall, Common Room, or Bar may only be supplied from the College Bar or Wine Cellar. Additionally, it is illegal to leave college premises with alcohol in an open container (such as a bottle, cup, can, etc), to do so would place the Common Room Club License at risk. Beyond that, it is also illegal to have open containers within the Alchohol-Free Zones in Oxford with an on-the-spot £50 fine, possible arrest, and fines of up to £500, if prosecuted. The Cellar is managed by the Wine Steward, currently, the Bursar. If you have questions or comments about Hall Wine, please contact the Bar Manager. For any other wine related questions, please contact the Wine Steward. The Wine Steward will organise a termly wine-tasting event for members of college and guests. Details to be found in the termly calendar. |
