He holds the UNESCO Chair in Information and Computer Ethics and the Research Chair in Philosophy of Information at the University of Hertfordshire. In Oxford, he is a Senior Member of the Philosophy Faculty, Research Associate and Fellow in Information Policy, at OUCL, and Coordinator of the IEG, the interdepartmental research group on the philosophy of information. He is President of the International Association for Computing And Philosophy. In 2009 he was the first philosopher to be elected Gauss Professor by the Academy of Sciences of Göttingen and was awarded the Barwise Medal by the American Philosophical Association for his work on the philosophy of information. Before joining St Cross, he was Junior Research Fellow and then Research Fellow at Wolfson College, Oxford. |
