Awards, Prizes and Recognitions of Distinction

Professor John Pethica FRS was awarded the Hughes Medal of The Royal Society for his achievements in the field of materials.

Tim Foster, former student of St Cross, who won a gold medal in rowing at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, was made MBE in the Birthday Honours.

Dr Arthur Peacocke, a former fellow of the College and founding Director of the Ian Ramsay Centre for the Study of Science and Religion, has been awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion.

Professor Wendy James FBA became President of the Royal Anthropological Institute.

Professor Diarmaid MacCulloch has been elected FBA.
