St Cross Wins Gold for Sustainability

St Cross has been awarded for its recycling and composting schemes thanks to the efforts of the students' Green Impact Team. The team, led by Environmental Rep Bronwen Hudson, has been recognised by the University's Environmental Sustainability team for improving practices College-wide, including the introduction of food composting, new yoghurt dishes and clearly signposted recycling points.

St Cross received an overall Gold award for participation in various activities including organising events such as 'plastic-free potlucks', recycling, ambassador training, and taking photos about energy saving.

As a reward for their efforts, the team have been given £150 to put towards future sustainability work. A survey will be sent around in the coming weeks which will give St Cross members the opportunity to put forward ideas and suggestions for future projects.

If you'd like to get involved in sustainable initiatives in College, do join the St Cross Green Impact Facebook group - and keep an eye on updates on the Green Impact noticeboard outside the common room. The University will be hosting a Sustainability Showcase on Monday 12 June where the awards will be presented and the work of students celebrated, details are here.
